Buddhism, Short and Simple
Heure et lieu
À propos de l'événement
We are going to cook you dinner, a delicious Sri Lankan dinner. Then we are going to provide an entertaining, educational and social evening full of short, simple activities that are all things Buddhism.
These will all be geared toward the commitment-phobic that really don't know if they can spend more than 10 minutes meditating, or learning what mantras are, or experiencing a new breathing technique.
This is the CliffNotes version of Buddhism 101. Why do people practice Buddhism? What can I get out of it?
We'll begin the evening listening to Dan Cozort, president of Blue Lotus Buddhist Temple, Pennsylvania, speak about the book "Why Buddhism is True".
Author, Robert Writes says that from what we know about how the human mind has developed--evolutionary psychology--the Buddha's diagnosis of the human condition and the method he taught to bring about liberation are true.
Author, and Yoga Teacher, Susan Kiskis offers mini classes on Metta Meditation and Why Mantras?
From there you will have activities to pick and choose from so you can decide what you want to learn about.
